The Embitterment

Once there was a person, almost a person.
Not without fears or dreams –
but always reckoning the hours
to the slow rhythm of breath.

Marked and defiled,
I crawl from this senseless vessel;
the idyllic mirage is shattered –
stinging sea-mists assail me.

The uphill path forks ahead
into leisurely highways –
beguiling, compelling my passage.

My reason has fled
at this abeyance of mystery,
leaving bitter reflections.

Now I can only see
Satan awaiting, awaiting in darkness
my corporeal struggle.
