{"id":496,"date":"2013-07-06T00:06:33","date_gmt":"2013-07-05T23:06:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/draigweb.co.uk\/draigweb\/?p=496"},"modified":"2013-07-06T00:06:33","modified_gmt":"2013-07-05T23:06:33","slug":"forefathers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.draigweb.co.uk\/draigweb\/forefathers\/","title":{"rendered":"Forefathers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Where are the citizens, the bronze miners?<br \/>\nWhitewashed houses murmur their retributions &#8211;<br \/>\nnothing has changed,<br \/>\ntheir spirits are still here;<br \/>\ndefined and bent with prohibitions &#8211;<br \/>\nunearthed among the back roots<br \/>\nthat touch my heart endlessly,<br \/>\nburning like an ochre flame.<\/p>\n<p>In my closet lies a dark ledger &#8211;<br \/>\nprosaic and bottomless;<br \/>\nits brooding tricephalous<br \/>\nfrowns on my trinity,<br \/>\nfatherly and skeletal &#8211; a sure promise,<br \/>\ntense cohabitation, flayed and cornerless,<br \/>\nforeign in breed and cult.<br \/>\nPraying for its cessation<br \/>\nI offer up memories &#8211;<br \/>\nstamped quite suddenly into my raw hide.<\/p>\n<p>Beside the houses are gnarled roots<br \/>\nspluttering their acephalous cries,<br \/>\ndark accusations are their milk;<br \/>\ntheir tears fall to earth, an anvil sky<br \/>\nbelches forth its poisons. In the ground,<br \/>\nblack saplings<br \/>\nemerge struggling in ashen soils.<br \/>\nShall I refuse this sanctuary,<br \/>\nits dark waters?<br \/>\nLooming ancestral skies resign my blood.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Where are the citizens, the bronze miners?
